FINLAND — Tamini Transformatori will supply power transformers for the national utility’s substation expansion project in the Southern Ostrobothnia region.
A significant amount of new wind power is planned for the Southern Ostrobothnia region of Finland.
To further transfer electricity generated by wind farms, Fingrid is expanding and renewing substation equipment at the Alajärvi substation. Nearly 2 GW of new production capacity is to be connected to the station in the coming years.
Fingrid and TMV Service signed a contract in April 2021 for the implementation of the Alajärvi substation contract. The value of the agreement is approximately $18 million. The total cost of the Alajärvi station project is approximately $25.3 million.
The new main transformer for the station will be supplied by the Italian Tamini Transformator in the fall of 2022.
The majority of the construction work included in the substation contract will be completed by the end of 2021. Electrical equipment installations are scheduled for 2022.
The new wind power capacity built in the area will be connected to the electricity grid through the renovated Alajärvi substation in the spring of 2023.
